Top 6 Benefits of Using RSS Feeds
'Top 6 Benefits of Using Feeds' - 'Product Sourcing Newsletter' - October 16, 2008
from IMNewswatch
'Worldwide Brands' has released their latest 'Product Sourcing Newsletter', complete with product sourcing tips for home-based e-tailers, upcoming trade shows, and spotlighted eCommerce wholesalers.
6 Benefits of Using RSS Feeds
What’s a RSS Feed?
Feeds are a way of sharing content. When you make material from your website available for publishing on other sites, you provide them with a feed. Basically, it’s a code that lets them post your articles and blogs. There are different kinds of code—XML, RSS, Atom, etc.—but essentially they’re all just different ways of accessing a feed.
According to internet expert Sydney Johnston, “The great thing about a feed is everybody wins.” The article writer gains exposure, the reader learns about something of interest to them, and the online seller gets an endless source of pertinent content.
What Can a Feed Do for My Online Business?
Feeds are useful in a number of different ways:
• They Eliminate Spam-filters. They’re 100% opt-in, so readers can subscribe and unsubscribe at will. Feeds are delivered directly to your subscribers, so you don’t contend with filters knocking you out of their inboxes.
• They Provide Free Content. One of the best ways to differentiate your site is to supply readers with interesting material—educate them on topics relating to the product you’re selling. If you sell preschool toys, chances are you don’t want to study child development and write numerous articles on the subject—so find someone else who’s already done that and make their feed available to your customers. The constantly updating, applicable subject matter gives your visitors a reason to keep coming back.
• They Can Improve Your Search Engine Rankings. In the past, search engines were unable to read feeds, but software is now available to translate them into live links the engines can see (check out CyberWS.com). Search engines love fresh, dynamic content, so feeds are ideal. They provide relevant information that updates automatically. Not only do your customers get the facts they’re looking for, but the search engines like your site and give it better position.
• For Affiliate Marketers, They’re an Alternative to Banners. You not only give your customer valuable knowledge, but if they click through and purchase something, you get credit. And unlike with banners, you don’t look like you’re putting up junk ads or spam.
• They Can Increase Your Traffic. Anything you write, you should make available as a feed. When other sites pick it up, it’s free advertising for you—all their traffic is able to click through the feed to your site. So you gain new potential customers you wouldn’t have otherwise.
Feeds on any subject are easy to find. There’s a whole collection of search engines just for feeds, like Plazoo.com and Feedster.com. Says Johnston, “The future of the internet for entrepreneurs is feeds. If people don’t master them, they’re going to get left behind, period.”

My Head Hurts Too Many Social Networks
Well Seth (Seth Godin) you did it again....Great post today....And quite frankly, I am guilty of attempting to be everywhere on every social site. Below is a great quote...Read the entire blog post at his blog. You gotta go get his new book Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us. Find it cheap on Amazon just click on the link. I am reading my copy now.
"If you have a presence on twitter, squidoo, blogs, facebook, myspace, linkedin and 20 other sites, the chances of finding critical mass at any of them is close to zero. But if you dominate, if you're the goto person, the king of your hill, magical things happen. One follower in each of twenty places is worthless. Twenty connected followers in one place is a tribe. It's the foundation for building something that matters."

Top 10 Tips for Selling More Online in 2008
Top 10 Tips for Selling More Online in 2008
So, although it's still more than a month away, it's time to get your site and PPC campaigns ramped up for hordes of Black Friday shoppers. From super-affiliate Rosalind Gardner
-
Start checking the networks now for Black Friday deals. Here's an example of one already posted by Travelocity... Travel to New York on Black Friday to Complete Your Holiday Shopping! Click Here for Great Vacation Deals to The Big Apple!
-
Make sure that you are receiving merchant emails. Many merchants already have their 2008 holiday shopping catalogs online and will start pumping out Black Friday and Cyber Monday 'deal' notices to their affiliates around the beginning of November. Unless you are in the habit of checking into each network's interface everyday, turn on email notifications from your best merchants or you may miss some really great deals that you could be passing on to your customers.
-
Contact your affiliate manager directly. If you have a working relationship with your affiliate manager, phone him or her and get the low-down on the best seasonal deals and best-converting offers.
-
Decorate for Christmas. Pretty up your site with a few holiday graphics. Just acknowledging the season with a 'Happy Holidays' header or a "Your One-Stop Christmas Shop" graphic will show your spirit and get your customers in the mood to shop.
-
Put up a 'Black Friday Deals' page... or pages. Draw visitors deeper into your site with the promise of special savings opportunities.
-
Do the legwork. Compare and contrast the deals that your merchants are offering. Sifting through a myriad of sites and offers is time-consuming. Save your potential customers time and effort by explaining the difference between offers on the same product. For example, show how that company that charges slightly more for a product but offers 'free shipping' will save them money in the long run.
-
Create urgency. Let your visitors know that these deals will not last by including offer expiry dates in your copy. Put up an "x number of Days 'Til Christmas' countdown ticker on your site, eg. There are 65 days until Christmas! You can find the "Till Christmas" code at Javascript Made Easy
-
Set up your PPC campaigns well in advance. Drive targeted traffic to your Black Friday deals pages with pay per click advertising.
-
Touch base regularly. Now's the time to increase the frequency of contact with your subscriber base. Let them know that you're doing the legwork to find them the very best deals of the season. Let them know what's new and hot in your niche and tell them to stay on the lookout for more notices from you with sizzling deals.
-
Seal the deal with great copy. Go beyond price points and convince your visitors that the products you're promoting make great gifts with tantalizing copy. For example, in describing spa or jewelery gifts for women, make good use of phrases such as, ie. pamper her, soothing, relaxing, unique, innovative, hand-picked, romantic, heart-touching, romantic and indulgent. Be sure to stress the benefits to the gift-giver as well, eg. "she'll thank you again and again for...".
Read the amazing true story of how one woman, with no previous business experience, earned $436,797+ in 2002 and now earns MUCH MORE than that ... just by selling other people's stuff online!
In her down-to-earth, sincere and often humorous style, Rosalind Gardner guides you through the entire process of building an affiliate marketing business on the 'Net.
Frequently revised and updated to reflect industry changes, the Super Affiliate Handbook now consists of 236 pages and 124 screenshots that will show you step-by-step how to become a Super Affiliate. Twitter Shake UP
Williams to become CEO and Dorsey to Become Chairman, Reversing their roles.
This is from WOMMA .....
Jack Dorsey and Evan Williams, the co-founders of Twitter, have decided to switch company roles. Dorsey, the current CEO of Twitter, will become the Chairman.
Williams, the current Chairman, slides into place as the new CEO. Said Fred Wilson from the Twitter Board of Directors, " 'We all think Ev is a better fit to lead the company from a product perspective, an operations perspective, and a business standpoint.' "
The news was greeted somewhat quizzically by the New York Times' Bits Blog, which pointed out that Twitter has become somewhat of a stable enterprise, especially after its highly successful weeks of presidential debate coverage.
Bits suggests that perhaps this shakeup is a way to start Twitter on a path to generating revenue.

Top 4 Reasons Google Key Factor In Silicon Valley
Google’s financial health is a key driving factor in Internet and Silicon Valley-
- If Google is strong and keep buying companies, venture capitalists will keep funding new and existing startups.
- If Google and others slow acquisition activity, venture dollars will dry up too.
- Citi analyst Mark Mahaney, who’s targeting Google stock at $590, thinks Google is in a good position to weather a storm: “GOOG is the market share leader – and is gaining share – in arguably the most dynamic part of Internet advertising – search, which appears to be less impacted by the current macro economic environment,”
- So keep hoping people all over the world continue to click on those Google search ads - your startup or company may depend on it.
Read the entire story at TechCrunch....
As you know multiple streams of income are an integral part of Internet Marketing. If it were not for auto pilot earnings we would not make half as much from the Internet as we do today. Systems that earn affiliate incomes and paid advertising commissions contribute to a large percentage of our monthly income.
One of these sources of advertising commissions is Google’s AdSense program. BTW, this email is not about Google’s AdSense program! Far from it in fact, this email is about the fact that we are all losing a huge amount of revenue because of AdSense.
When was the last time you earned over $1 for a 1 click from your paid ads? When was the last time you looked at your website ads and found Googles AdSense target ads displaying something completely irrelevant to your website content? Every day, I find these big problems to my business and most importantly my business earnings which I use to support my family. So ask me “Do you have the right to complain?” Yes I do! Just because Google is the largest search engine provider in the world, does not mean they have the best advertising and commission structure for paid ads does it.
When I first started out to become an Internet Marketer, I got stuck right into Googles' AdSense program and I did ok, but over the years my AdSense earnings have slowly dwindled and I hardly find it worth it anymore.
Now don’t get me wrong here, there are merketers who make great income from AdSense I have seen it personally, there have been times when I have checked my account and made over $20 in one day from AdSense so the bottom line is the AdSense program does work and does earn you money. However, I do think it could be better.....
This is what bring me to ClickBank Ad Rotator .
Now CB Ad Rotator does the same job as AdSense with some excellent improvements:
1. You have no threshold of $100 to reach before payment, this means the new guys get paid after one click led sale.
2. Your commissions are a lot higher, than AdSense meaning you get paid a lot more for sales i.e. ClickBank products worth anywhere up $297.00 with up to 75% commissions on some products. This as you know is the highest payments possible, but if you take the average product at say $47 with the average commission 55%, this is still $25.85 commission from one click.
3. You can choose your exact targeted ads with your own key words, this is not run by scanning content and producing as which sometimes are not relevant. All ads are relevant to your website.
4. Easy to setup guides in the form of email and video tutorials.
5. You can even run the two ad programs side by side. Why have one automated income when you can have two.
These are just some of the excellent feature you can utilize to push your business further....
‘DID YOU WANT PROOF’
Take a look at ClickBank Ad Rotator for a comparison table and real screen shots of a weeks earning from both paid ad systems. You will then see the truth.
Remember CB Ad Rotator is not a replacement for AdSense, the two can run side by side. If you are looking for an extra form of income on complete auto pilot from your visitors, then this is paramount to your website success. If your AdSense empire come crashing down from a banned account then this is your salvation too.
ClickBank Ad Rotator The future of commission based ads is here! Seriously, from one online marketer to another, this is a no brainer and another auto pilot income stream worth buying.
Thanks for reading...

Googleconverts already-existing links to your site into much higher quality links, for free
I can’t believe a new feature from Google isn’t getting more notice, because it converts already-existing links to your site into much higher quality links, for free. The Google webmaster blog just announced that you can find the pages that link to 404 pages on your site.
Let me back up and give you a little history. When someone comes to your site’s webserver and asks for a page that doesn’t exist, like http://www.mattcutts.com/asdfasdfasdf , most web servers are configured to return an HTTP status code of 404, which means that the page was “Not Found.” If someone links to a page on your site that doesn’t exist, most webservers give a pretty sucky experience: visitors usually land on a pretty useless page, and search engines might not give you full credit for those 404 errors.
Now Google’s webmaster portal lets you see who is linking to your 404 pages. Once you register your site, click on Diagnostics, then Web crawl, and select “Not found”. You’ll see something like this:
Google: Our Yahoo Deal Won't Raise Search Ad Prices (That Much)
Specifically, in a blog post, Google chief economist Hal Varian targeted some July research from online ad agency SearchIgnite that claimed that the deal would lead to 22% higher keyword prices on Yahoo! Varian:
After taking a close look at the study, I believe it makes several flawed assumptions and uses questionable methodology. The paper suggests that advertisers will be getting the same performance from the same ads, just at higher prices. We believe that advertisers will be getting significantly better performance at prices that reflect that improved performance.

Top 3 Ways to Keep Your Phone Numbers for Life
NumberGarage.com's solution may seem basic, that is the intent of the company – to solve a common problem with a straight-forward solution.
NumberGarage.com was formed so consumers could hold onto their phone numbers for life – even if they need to end service on a line. Here’s a couple examples of why you might use NumberGarage:
- Let’s say you move cities and decide/need to get a new, local cell phone number. You can subscribe to NumberGarage (for a nominal monthly fee) and NumberGarage will store your old phone number and forward all calls made to that number to your new phone. NumberGarage lets you keep a phone number even if you cancel your phone line or service. This way, you don’t need to update all of your old contacts of your new number – they dial the number they know and the call is forwarded to you.
- Or, maybe you want to stop paying for your landline, but don’t want to loose those incoming calls. You can use NumberGarage to “cut the cord” – without loosing any contacts as landline calls are forwarded to your cell line. Landline operators don’t offer this kind of forwarding service.
- Or, maybe you need to temporarily move out of your home to do a remodeling project. Landline operators do not offer a solution for short-term number porting. Again, you can subscribe to NumberGarage to have your home calls forwarded to another number, such as your office line or work number.
The technology used in porting a telephone number is Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). NumberGarage is the brainchild of the CEO of Freedom Communications, and an entrepreneurial friend of his from childhood. They are leveraging the company’s VoIP services to “Park” a number or “Forward” for call forwarding.
Visit www.numbergarage.com for more details.

saga of the Yahoo-Google (Make Microsoft Go Away) Advertising Deal
The continuing saga of the Yahoo-Google (Make Microsoft Go Away) Advertising Deal
Is anyone else besides me bored with this? Yahoo, in their search for survival ...uh, relevance and respect, just seems to be hanging on by their toenails—willing to compromise their sovereignty in exchange for perpetuating the Yahoo name a while longer.
Regardless, we feel obligated to document their demise, uh ...cover Yahoo out of habit. After all, we've been reporting their misadventures since the beginning of time. Therefore, in spite of the fact that hardly anyone even asks a question about them in today's Google-centric searchscape, here's the rest of our obligatory monthly 'what's up' with Yahoo lately.
Google is planning to move forward with its deal to provide search ads to Yahoo, despite the possibility that the US Department of Justice (DOJ) antitrust division may file a lawsuit to prevent it. The deal, expected to take place around mid-October 2008, would provide Yahoo a revenue stream that it badly needs, because apparently they're not real good at figuring out how to make money on their own.
Unfortunately for Yahoo, this deal also greatly increases Google's already-dominant position in the search advertising business. And, that is the main reason why the DOJ has serious anti-competitive concerns about a potentially monopolistic Goohoo—especially now that Google controls more than 70% of the US search ad market.
Regardless, the deal provides Yahoo with an expectation that revenues will increase by about $800 million in the first year, perhaps giving them the cash flow they need to continue fending off the much publicized hostile takeover attempts by Microsoft and shareholder Carl Icahn. It may also provide dry powder for consummating a relationship with (Internet loser) AOL. That's in light of the recent approval by Yahoo board members to enter negotiations with Time Warner over acquiring bits and pieces of the tired old online has been.
Anyway, the Goohoo deal stipulates that Yahoo will select the search terms that Google can show ads for. Yahoo plans to show Google ads for less-common (aka, long tail) search terms for which Yahoo doesn't have ad inventory. Neither Yahoo nor Google can see the other's bid prices for the ads being shown. This safeguard is supposed to prevent Yahoo from cherry-picking Google's best ads.
So far, we're unaware of any way for advertisers to opt out of having their AdWords ads shown on Yahoo—except, perhaps, to avoid bidding on long-tail search queries (ouch!).
It remains to be seen how this move will impact overall PPC costs. Stay Tuned.
—Stephen Mahaney, CEO Planet Ocean | Head Researcher, Esoos BobGoogle debunks the myth of the duplicate content penalty
Google debunks the myth of the duplicate content penalty
I read this somewhere and I cannot remember where....
Ok, this is kind of a "so what, big deal" because it never really was a duplicate content penalty. It has always been more of a duplicate content problem. Regardless, Google has now officially confirmed that the duplicate content penalty doesn't exist. You're not actually penalized by Google for having duplicate content on your site.
Rather, the issue is that duplicate content causes problems for you in lots of other ways. For instance, if you have different URLs pointing at the same content, Google will only show one of the those URLs in the search results. The other URLs aren't banned or penalized, they just don't get shown. Google does this to avoid displaying redundant listings in the search results.
The problem is that Google might not choose the URL you want them to use. Also, the more time that Google's spider spends crawling and filtering out redundant URLs, the less time it's likely to spend indexing your important pages.
Anyway, here's how to entice Google to always index the "correct" URL without wasting time dealing with duplicate content:
- Solve your site's canonical problems with a 301 redirect.
- Be consistent in your internal linking. Link to the version of URL you want indexed, and be consistent in how you format your links.
- When creating a Google Sitemap, make sure the URLs in your sitemap are the ones you want indexed.
- Block duplicate versions of your URLs using your robots.txt file
Remember, duplicate content won't cause your site to be banned or penalized—but it certainly can cause your site to perform badly in the rankings. Obviously, it's a problem you'll want to avoid. For more information, see our in-depth report: The SEO's Guide to Preventing Duplicate Content.
Of course, if you're operating on the dark side and stealing content from other sites on a large scale in order to spam the search engines (such as with scraper sites), then all bets are off. In such cases you can certainly expect a penalty and possibly a ban. But short of content scraping (and scrapers tend to be fully aware of the risks involved), dup-content penalties aren't your worry.
A more realistic concern is duplicate content produced when you share content with other websites. In such cases when multiple sites display the same content, Google will only list one of these pages in the search results while filtering out the rest of them.
Some of the criteria that Google uses to measure which page deserves being displayed in the search results include:
- The site where Google first indexed the page.
- The authority of the site hosting the page.
- Whether the various copies link back to an original source.
If you let other sites reprint content, make sure they link back to you. That should ensure you'll be credited as the original source. We also suggest you embed links back to your site within your articles. By doing so you're making it clear to Google which site is the originator, even if people steal your content without permission. And, if content-theft is a problem, be sure to read our report: What To Do When Someone Steals Your Content.
Also take note that filtering of duplicate pages is a big reason why traditional article marketing doesn't work very well anymore. If you syndicate a single article to dozens of article directories, you'll only get credit for a single link because all of the other copies of your article are filtered out of the search results. Be sure to read our report on article marketing done right where we show you how to get around this issue and get credit for your article marketing links.
Finally, keep in mind that if you've had duplicate content problems on your site, you don't need to file a reconsideration request because you haven't actually been penalized. All you'll need to do is solve the problems by taking appropriate actions.
For more information on how Google handles duplicate content, see the Google help files.

Last month I was discussing one-way link building using social bookmarks and mentioned that I would soon publish a list of “do-follow” social networks so here it is…my “Top 55 Do-Follow Social Networks”!
The list was updated today and I personally verified the source code of each social network to make sure there were no rel=”nofollow” tags being used on their links. Note that some networks would only use do-follow links with their most popular articles while other ones would only use do-follow links when showing the full URL of the news source. You will find those in gray at the bottom of the page while there is still an impressive list of 41 “true” do-follow social networks to start with.
Enjoy and please take the time to vote for this if you find it useful.

Think Beyond MySpace and Facebook.
BlackPlanet - It is the fifth highest trafficking
social-networking site, which is quite remarkable
considering that it primarily caters to the African American
community. The time spent by members on the website is 300%
more than the minutes spent on all its competitors combined!
Bebo - Although based in the US, Bebo has a stronger
following in the UK and virtually provides the same services
as MySpace.
Orkut - Most popular in India and Brazil, Orkut was initially
developed by Google as a by-invitation-only social networking
site. One of its unique features is letting users create their
own forums or what they refer to as "communities". Internet
research firm Alexa has however described Orkut as having
already reached its peak membership rate in 2006.
Hi5 - This social networking site is most popular in South and
Central America, excluding Brazil of course, and including a
few other countries like Romania and Mongolia. Some simply
think of Hi5 as the Latin version of MySpace. Being one of the
first few social networking sites to offer its services in
Spanish had greatly helped in establishing its name.
Skyrock Blog - Most popular with French-speaking communities,
this was formerly known as Skyblog. Unlike other social
networking sites, however, Skyrock Blog is primarily a
personal political forum and most of the content revolve on
social injustices and other dilemmas experienced by French
youth.
Friendster - This social networking website was what started
it all. Although based in the US, its user base lies however
in Southeast Asia or Philippines in particular. The LA Times
had reported that approximately 87% Filipinos were users of
Friendster. With the addition of other languages, it is also
the second most visited website in Malaysia, Indonesia, and
Singapore.
Cyworld - Dubbed as the future of social networking, this
South Korea based website utilizes a game-like social network
that lets you pay for clothes, furniture, and accessories. Its
Karmic elements also let you know what the "world" thinks of
you.
XuQa - This is what Facebook could be if it were allowed to be
even slightly "racier". It focuses on recruiting college
students and also uses a game-like social network. Although its
current membership is about 1/7th of Facebook, this website
definitely shows a lot of promise!
Choosing a Web 2.0 Social Networking Site
If ever you're placed in the position to choose the ideal social
networking site, just focus on looking for Web 2.0
characteristics such as excellent networking features,
user-friendliness and functionality of API's, and flexibility in
creation, management, and usage of content.

Google Adsense Is Dead
